Every week, someone walks into Vesper after a long drive from Amarillo, Lubbock, Dallas, or El Paso and asks the same first question. So let's answer it up front.
Yes, you can buy here.
Cannabis is legal for adults 21 and over in New Mexico. You do not need to be a New Mexico resident. You do not need a medical card. Any valid government-issued photo ID works: a Texas driver's license is fine. We check ID at the door, every visit, every person, no exceptions.
What you can buy.
New Mexico law allows adults to purchase up to 2 ounces of flower, 16 grams of extract, and 800 milligrams of edibles per transaction. We accept cash and debit.
Now the part you actually need to hear.
What you buy here has to stay here. Be smart about these four things:
- Crossing back into Texas with cannabis is illegal. It does not matter that you bought it legally in New Mexico. The moment you cross the state line, you are in a state where possession is a crime, and enforcement in the Texas panhandle corridors is real.
- Do not consume in public. Legal to buy does not mean legal to smoke on the sidewalk, on the trail, or on the chairlift. Consumption is for private property where the owner allows it.
- Do not consume in your vehicle, and never drive impaired. An open cannabis product in the car is a problem even parked. Driving high is a DWI in New Mexico, same as alcohol.
- Federal land is federal law. Carson National Forest surrounds this valley, and cannabis remains illegal under federal law regardless of what New Mexico allows. Keep it out of the national forest.
The short version.
Come up, enjoy the mountain, visit us, and consume responsibly on private property while you're here. What you don't finish doesn't ride home with you. That's the whole deal, and it keeps this legal for everyone.
