The route from Taos
From Taos Plaza, head east on US-64 through Taos Canyon. The road climbs through ponderosa and aspen, crosses Palo Flechado Pass, and descends toward the valley. Turn south onto NM-434 into Angel Fire and follow it to 3465 Mountain View Blvd.
Plan on about 40 to 45 minutes in good weather. The canyon is two lanes with curves and wildlife, so take it easy, especially after dark.
Winter driving
Between November and April the pass can see snow and ice. Check New Mexico road conditions before you leave, carry a scraper, and give yourself extra time. If the weather turns, call us and we will tell you what we are seeing out the window.
Make the drive worth it
